Mission

It would be a misstatement to say that education is a comparatively new concept. Education has been their from primeval times , though its methods and forms have been changing through the ages. The first and most elementary form of education has been through observation – the child learning by observing and imitating his elders , and the adults by observing and following in the footsteps of their leaders and their more knowledgeable compatriots . This form of education is still as relevant as it was in the early stages of mans evolution .
Then as man progressed, So did the need to impart more specialised skills to the youngsters of,  first the clan  and then the family.  In this , the teachers were primarily the parents and other elders of the family . Then came the institution of foster parents in the west and ashrams (Gurukuls) in the east. The ashrams imparted complete education to their inmates (Shishyas) . With further development the institution of schools , colleges and universities came into existence . TAXILA in the north and NALANDA in central India were the most prominent learning centres of our country . Finally the western system of education was adopted , which still exists.
In our times education was less of a burden to the students. Though learning is not an easy task, it was much more easier than it is today- primarily because the student was not burdened with unnecessary learning . Our text books were less than half in number compared to what they are today and consequently our bags were less than half in weight compared to what they are now. The need for extra coaching was almost non- existent , and the student were neither expected nor asked to learn more than what their age permitted . This in turn led to a better understanding and grasp of the syllabus by the students.
In the present time, though a lot of modern aids and gadgets have come into existence , to help the teachers and the students, but I feel that the students of our time came out of the school with a better grasp and understanding of the subjects they were taught , than the students of today.
Our education boards and the government should reconsider and review the education system , so that along with academics , necessary life skills are also imparted to the students , their physical and social development is also fully taken care of , instead of mere lip service as at present.
